The Boys & Girls Club of Imperial Beach held
its 12th annual Feed the Kids & Seniors Thanksgiving
Feast this past week. For the twelfth year, long time I.B. resident
Bill Hixon coordinated the event along with B&G Club Program
Director Stephanie Gomez.
Over forty turkeys were donated courtesy of Assemblymember Mary
Salas, U.S. Congresswoman Susan Davis, Senator Denise Ducheny,
Chris Mathis and Rudy Mercado. San Diego Job Corps provided some
of the cookies and pies while SL Graphics did the placemats and
promotional banner.
Over 700 dinners were served this year. Among those helping to
serve up meals included Imperial Beach Firefighters John French,
Tyra Moe, Cory Cooper, and Frank Sotelo and S.D. Sheriff’s
Senior Patrol Members Dick Pilgrim and Chris Brown.
Girl Scout Troop #5023 not only helped serve but took on the
task of bussing tables which kept them busy as over 60 children
from the Club’s licensed school-age childcare program took
a fieldtrip to the Club to partake in the feast. Another hundred
members of the CARE Program stayed at their schools and had their
meals delivered.
